Mission Road
This is the Link Road between Tribeniganj Market and the villages west of the Market. This Road links approximately 40 Villages and serves pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, four wheelers, tractors and bullock carts too. the volume of traffic on this road is about 20 thousand everyday. however this particular road has not been repaired, soled or even mettled in the last 30 years.
Just the other week Nitish Kumar the Chief Minister of Bihar paid a visit to this town of Tribeniganj which was a stop on his 'Seva Yatra' tour. the roads he was to travel on were in a similar condition but were repaired and mettled overnight just for a 5 minute drive. It is amazing the kind of blind attitude the authorities and representatives in the legislative assembly have along with their party representative locally that they overlook a link road that serves close to 30 percent of the footfalls that come to Tribeniganj Market.
Bihar hasn't moved an inch in terms of development. I was just calculating the amount of time everybody travelling on the link road could save in a month if the roads were done up to minimum standard.
There's an average delay in travel of about 45 minutes for every person.
20,000 travellers wasting 45 minutes each - that's roughly 900,000 minutes daily which translates into 150,000 hours daily and about 625 days daily of productive time lost by hard working farmers, students and businessmen that have to travel this road every day.
Worse still are the
accidents caused because of the poor road conditions, some accidents are even fatal and the worst of the lot are pedestrians who hit the open and edgy bricks at night while going back home. some even break their legs and some even land up in hospital.
There are no street lights on this road and the poor community have been suffering this plight for over 30 years now. Ironically there are villages in this region where even dogs don't travel and they are metalled.
Is there somebody listening.
